This Season On TV (For Me)

November 7, 2010

I suppose this post is a long time in coming, but frankly, I’ve just been too busy watching TV to write on this blog! Oh, the irony.  But it’s actually a good thing because I’ve finally decided what shows I’m keeping, adding, and dropping.  So here’s the official list, and I will probably write some explanatory posts for each show in the coming weeks.

Other than catching up on Glee, I have been slightly bored with my television options recently.  I am looking forward to a few summer seasons (including The Closer and Leverage), but luckily I’m also a big fan of the Rerun.  So here’s what I’ve been watching:

  • Friends.  A rerun staple.  Although it scares me that, according to Glee, there are 16 year-olds out there that were named after Friends characters.  Has it really been so long since the show was on??
  • Frasier.  Another staple.
  • Reba.  I’ve been watching reruns on Lifetime.  But is it really a rerun if you’ve never seen them before?  Watching the show makes me realize why people like Joanna Garcia so much.  She’s adorable in it and I look forward to her new show this fall.
  • That 70s Show.  I’ve seen all these, so it’s really out of desperation, not the show’s mediocre quality.
  • Just Shoot Me.  Ditto to That 70’s Show.
  • Shark.  I really, really like this crime/drama and wish it had lasted over two seasons.

That’s the current list.  When I get through Friends and Frasier, I’ll move on to Arrested Development and Flight of the Conchords.  Two other staples that the more I watch, the more jokes I find to laugh at.

I should also point out that Arrested Development is the funniest and most innovative show that was ever on television.  If you love TV and haven’t watched it, shame on you.  It deserves its own post at some point.

Season Finale Rewards

June 1, 2010

PopWatch on EW asks for nominations for the following categories, so I thought I’d put in my two cents (read another here).

Best Death: Fake John Locke on Lost. Evil was finally overcome with Kate’s last bullet.
Most Welcome Exit for an Unloved Character: Deming on Castle. Get rid of the competition!
Best Overall Ending to an Otherwise Crappy Season: Desperate Housewives. They pulled it together the last few episodes and made a crappy season go good.
Worst Overall Ending to an Otherwise Solid Season: How I Met Your Mother. Again with the doppelgangers?  Enough already!
Best Romantic Cliffhanger: Jeff and Annie of Community.
Best Non-Romantic Cliffhanger: NCIS: Los Angeles. Who is G. Callen?  Is his mother/father alive?
Best Kiss: Again, Jeff and Annie.
Best Fight (Verbal or Physical): Modern Family‘s mud fight.
Top Tissue Moment (Single tear or sobfest): Ending of Lost. Who could say anything different here?
Most Clever Single Twist: Does Survivor count?  I was not expecting Sandra to win.
Weakest Single Twist: 30 Rock. Liz Lemon and character played by Matt Damon?  Really?  I wanted to see her with pathetic Wesley.
Funniest Half Hour: Tie between The Middle and Modern Family.
Spookiest Image: Patrick Jane sitting under the bloody smile painted by Red John in The Mentalist.
Most Rewound Moment: The Jeff and Annie kiss.  What can I say? I’m a romantic.
SPECIAL AWARD: Biggest Regret That I Didn’t See It, I Just Read About It: I’m still in the middle of V and Glee seasons, but I’m guessing the finales will be good.

Ryan, for giving me the idea for “Clip Show” posts.  I love categories that fit in with the theme of my blog!

Christie, for giving me my first “share” on this blog, even though it was a mistake!

NANsee, for being the first person ever to comment on this blog!

Nate, for suggesting an idea for my first ever poll.

TV Shows I’m Watching

April 12, 2010

For my first blog post, I am just copying over a post from my personal blog.  Some of the info has changed, but it was my first public admission of loving TV, so I thought posting it on my new TV blog was appropriate.

At the risk of getting the judgmental eye-roll from my father, I would like to share what TV shows that I’m currently watching.  I am really only doing this because I feel the need to post on my blog, but also because I have 82 Google docs and have found that they make excellent blog fodder.  Here are some examples if you don’t believe me: my journal from Indiabooks I’ve read, and my essay on To Kill a Mockingbird.  And that’s just to name a few!  So here’s my list of TV shows I’m currently watching, taken straight out of my Google doc of the same name (and please don’t ask why I keep a doc of them).
